Shop Day

Shop Day was a fantastic day out buying cool stuff from the seniors. We all brought in money and bought lollies, went on a fast car ride, and treated ourselves to yummy home baked goods. What fun!

Payton and Darleen bought jewels.

We all needed a drink because it was HOT.

Eating a yummy treat.

We got to ride in the flash American car.

Lollies!

Taine and Brody loved it! Especially the treats!

Niko helped at a stall.

Jakob loved his treats too!

Thanksgiving

On Thursday, it was Thanksgiving in the United States. Mrs. Foote taught us about Thanksgiving. It is a holiday to celebrate the coming together for a harvest feast of the Pilgrims and the Native Americans hundreds of years ago.

We learned about the food that they eat, including turkey and pumpkin pie. We talked about what we were thankful for as well. Then, we made a pumpkin pie!

We used tinned pumpkin which none of us had ever seen. Mrs Foote got it from Countdown (in the International section) and the recipe is on the back.
Mrs Foote and Myah added pumpkin to the spices, sugar, and eggs.

We had to mix and mix and mix all the ingredients together.

We baked in the staff room oven....

... and ate it! Yum!

Grandparents Day

On Friday, we had Grandparents Day at Mahora. Many of our grandparents came to our school to visit.

We went to assembly with the whole school to watch the Kapa Haka and choir perform. We had to wait a while before going in, so we played a quick game of sleeping lions to help us wait!

The hall was FULL of grandparents! They must really love us to all come to our school!

After assembly, our grandparents came back to Room 2. We read a poem with them, made handprints, and showed them all the learning we do in Room 2.

Brayden's granddad and great-grandma taught him dominos. Mrs Foote reckoned she needed the Grandparents here full time!

Some of our Grandparents had to visit many classrooms. Kyla was so pleased to see her Grandma--she was the last visit of 4 classrooms! It is lovely to have a big whanau at Mahora.

Finally, it was lunch time. (Pizza day-- yum!). Some of our Nana's and Poppa's stayed for lunch. What a special treat!

Thank you to all the grandparents who came to Mahora for the day. We loved showing you around!
